What we have learned here...

I can't believe that I have been taking 7 camps already! To be honest with you, I am so exhausted from the camps. Especially during the past weeks we have camp going from Sunday through Saturday, I felt that I can't take one more step on Wed. or Thu., it's the toughest moment for me. It is not easy at all.

" Put down that sticks. Come on, we need to hurry up. Go brush your teeth. What do you guys learn from the story? What do you learn from the game? How can you serve God by helping other people? Do you think God calls us in many ways? Do you know God loves us even though we failed?........ " Everyday we try to educate the campers.

One of the challenges for me is this: There's a girl called Blake. Every morning, it took me more than half an hour to have her get out of the bed, and then she dresses up really slowly . I couldn't yell at her but ask her nicely to get up and dress up. It consumes lots of my patience, especially in the very early morning, and very often I would think that I'd rather just give up. The last two days, she has a great improvement getting up. I was thinking, what if she was my child?

Still another time,we have a challenge course, and after that we sit in a circle sharing what happened in the game. When one of us were talking, some girls just play with sticks not paying attention. And then the host person Sheldon gave them a lesson. He asked them how would you feel when you talking to one person and she/he just turn and walk away. Sheldon have them experienced the way how you can ignore people and how we should respect people.

So many times, at heart we just wanna run away from all the difficulties. But the angels remind me that we are doing something really important. The kids might not have anyone to tell them the stories about Jesus, but you are someone in their lives to make things different.

Romans 10:11-15
As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

At times, when all your strength is gone, hold on there, do not give up. God will lead the way.

Ellie Powers

Ellie is the Director of Program at Mt. Cross. She is the first person to contact me before I came to the States, and she is one of my best friends here.

Probably because she is the only one who is at the same age with me, and we have so many same values, and therefore I feel so comfortable hanging out and talking with her.

She is a great director. She is so compatible with everyone, and always caring about how the others would feel. It's a wonderful experience for me to work with her, she is an awesome sister in Christ for me.

Ellie, please come visit me in Taiwan. I have so many things to show you around back home.

Sometimes it's hard to love

今天照往常一樣,到了接待家庭享用晚餐,就在我使用洗手間時,發現地上有一個體重計,於是我就好奇量了一下自己的體重...but it's in pounds....so I checked it up on the internet how the conversion works....

1 Kilograms=2.2 pounds

Week2- Special Friends

6/21-26

我跟Melissa一起照顧一個Cabin,我們有3個Campers(Shawna, Tamera, and Amelia),他們都是年紀比我們大上許多的成人。

Amelia

I learned more than I expected from this experience. This week reminds me of the verses below...
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
" 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails."

My camera is broken

It is very sad, especially when I really need it.
Hope it can be fixed ...or I can find a cheap one in the States...

It's Sad, they said.

Maybe after I stay longer here, I will find out more differences and facts.

Santa Cruz

Carrie, I will take care of you" 我聽了覺得他很可愛又很貼心,Gabe非常喜歡畫畫,而且他在我的房間裡面放了一張他看著我的照片畫的圖畫,我看到時感覺非常特別,很開心很感動。

於是睡覺前,我與Mykell聊天時,我就問她" what is the secret for you to educate your kids? how can they be so polite and well-educated?" Probably because they have a good Dad!" I never know that the key factor would be "having a good Dad", but it really make sense! Cause usually kids have good mom to educate them, but not necessarily have a good Dad to be with them. That makes a lot of sense to me!

I like it.

I have a lovely weekend with them. =)

Chicago_Orientation

Malietah (from Botswana) & Jack (from Papua New Guinea)一組,他們的國家目前都很仰賴農作物,所以生活方式也和我們很不相同,可以認識不同的文化真的是太酷了,為什麼國高中的地理課沒這麼好玩呢?!
